There’s something about living here that quietly spoils you. One minute you’re having your morning coffee, the next you’re like, wait, I could be in a completely different town in under an hour. And not just any town, like charming, postcard-level, “how is this real?” kind of places.
If you’re based anywhere around Valencia or Alicante, these are the day trips that just make sense. Easy, beautiful, and honestly, kind of addictive.
1. Calpe
Calpe feels like two worlds in one. You’ve got the beachy, modern side and then that giant rock just casually exists like it owns the place.
What to do:
- Hike or walk around the base of Peñón de Ifach. Even if you don’t go all the way up, the views are insane.
- Grab a long, lazy lunch by the water. This is not a rush kind of place.
It’s one of those spots where you go for a few hours and accidentally stay all day.
2. Altea
Altea is that soft, dreamy town that makes you slow down without even trying. White buildings, little cobblestone streets, and that iconic blue dome watching over everything.
What to do:
- Wander up to Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo for the best views.
- Get lost on purpose. Seriously, don’t use Google Maps, just walk.
It feels romantic, peaceful, and just a little bit magical.
3. Jávea
Jávea is for when you want that clear, unreal blue water that doesn’t even look real in photos.
What to do:
- Spend time at Cala Granadella. It’s one of the prettiest coves you’ll find around here.
- Do a coastal walk or just sit by the water and people-watch for hours.
A little personal recommendation, check out Nostro Roastery. The café itself is super cute, and their playlist is always on point, which just makes the whole experience even better.
Also, if you’re planning to get in the water or spend time on the beach, bring water shoes! Jávea has more of a pebble beach situation, and trust me, your feet will thank you.
4. Xàtiva
Xàtiva feels different in the best way; less beachy, more history, more depth. It’s one of those places that reminds you Spain has layers.
What to do:
- Visit Xàtiva Castle. The views alone are worth it, but the history makes it even better.
- Walk through the old town and take your time. It’s quiet, but in a good way.
This is your “slow day, think a little, romanticize life” kind of trip.
5. Villajoyosa
Villajoyosa is pure joy, like, actually. Bright, colorful houses right on the beach that look like they were painted just to make you happy.
What to do:
- Walk along the colorful waterfront; it’s easily one of the cutest spots in the region.
- Visit the Valor Chocolate Museum because obviously.
It’s playful, vibrant, and feels a little like stepping into a postcard.
6. Dénia
Dénia feels like that effortless coastal town. You’ve got a historic castle sitting above the city, a marina full of boats, and food that will quietly ruin every other meal for you.
What to do:
- Wander up to Dénia Castle and take in the views. It’s an easy walk and gives you that full picture of the town and coastline.
- Stroll through the old town and then make your way to the marina. It’s perfect for a slow walk, especially around sunset.
- Grab a proper meal. Dénia is known for its food, so take your time and enjoy it.
The best part about living in this region is how easy it is to just go. You don’t need a full plan, you don’t need a whole itinerary. Sometimes the best days are the ones where you pick a place, hop on a train or in a car, and just see what happens.
And somehow, it always ends with good food, a view you didn’t expect, and that feeling of “I can’t believe this is my life now.”
Love always,
American Girl Meets World
